The Foundation: 1997 – Present

From the Suburbs to the City

The work began in 1997. What started as suburban exploration transitioned into a focused presence in Toronto by 1998. This era was defined by high-volume output and the development of a signature letterform within the city’s concrete landscape.

Institutional Influence & Public Arts

Following a period of heavy street activity, the trajectory shifted toward large-scale production and civic engagement.

  • City of Toronto Mural Program: Progressed from participant to program manager within two years, navigating the intersection of raw graffiti and sanctioned public art.
  • Style in Progress & Base Gallery: Co-founded these platforms to bridge the gap between the street and the white cube. These ventures hosted monthly exhibitions and large-scale public events, establishing a blueprint for several current Toronto-based arts NGOs.

The Tattoo Era & Technical Discipline

A subsequent move to Vancouver preceded a 15-year career in professional tattooing back in Toronto. This decade and a half enforced a rigorous technical discipline—precision, linework, and anatomical composition—that now informs every canvas and digital illustration produced today.

Current Focus: Design & Illustration

Now operating as the Creative Director for These Are Not Toys, the focus has returned to the core: Graffiti, Design, and Illustration. The current portfolio at Horus-online.com represents a full-circle evolution—combining the raw energy of 90s Toronto graffiti with the technical refinement of a veteran illustrator.
